Managing Employee Work Entries and Conflicts in Odoo 16
Accurate and well-maintained employee work entries are essential for effective workforce management, payroll processing, and overall organizational performance. They serve as a valuable source of information for making informed decisions about employee scheduling, resource allocation, and project management. Accurate work entries are crucial for calculating employee wages, salaries, and benefits. Payroll departments use this information to process payments. Maintaining accurate work entries is also important for legal and regulatory compliance, especially regarding labor laws and tax regulations.
In Odoo, we can create new work entries, and modify and remove entries as per our convenience. Let’s see how!
Payroll Application =>Work Entries menu => Work Entries
Creating new Work Entry
Click on the ‘New’ button at the top left corner of the work entry page to create a new work entry for your employee.
In the work entry form, specify the Description of the work entry, Employee name, Work Entry type, From, To, and Duration. We can see that the duration is automatically computed and entered according to the inputs in the ‘From’ and ‘To’ fields. After entering all these details, we can ‘Save and Close’ the pop-up window. The work entry form also displays the stage of the work entry such as ‘Draft’, ‘Validated’, and ‘Conflict’. We can also add a work entry of an employee in the required day and time by clicking on the ‘+’ button at the required area of the work entry page.
To view work entries of employees in a day, week, or month, select the ‘Day’, ‘Week’, or ‘Month’ options at the top of the page. We can also use filters and group by options to select and view only the required work entries from the page.
Conflicts in Work Entries
Conflicts in work entries can arise in various situations in the workplace, and they can have a negative impact on employee morale, productivity, and overall organizational functioning. One of the most common conflicts is when employees record their work hours or tasks inaccurately. This can happen due to errors, intentional manipulation, or forgetfulness. Such inaccuracies can lead to disputes over pay and work performance.

Here, you can see the work entries of the employees whose work entries do not follow the actual working hours. Therefore, it becomes easier to track the inaccurate work entries without checking each work entry of your employees.
We can regenerate work entries by selecting the ‘Regenerate Work Entries’ option and selecting the employee, specifying the From and To dates related to the work entry. It also displays the stage of the work entry at the top right corner of the window.
After making the necessary changes, click on the ‘Regenerate Work Entries’ option to rectify the conflicting work entry of the concerned employee.
This is how you can effectively track down and make corrections in the employee’s working hours. It thus ensures that your employees stay motivated and are committed to their work.
