Quality Control & Inspection In Odoo 19
Manufacturing
Quality control in Odoo Manufacturing ensures that products meet defined standards at every stage of the production and inventory process. By configuring quality control points and inspection checks, businesses can monitor raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products, helping maintain consistency and reduce defects.
In Odoo 19, you can configure inspections to trigger at different stages of the operational workflow, including incoming receipts for raw materials, during manufacturing operations, at the time of outgoing deliveries, and even during internal transfers. This structured approach enables businesses to maintain quality across the entire supply chain rather than limiting checks to a single stage.
Odoo also supports additional operation types depending on the warehouse configuration. For reference, the illustration below shows the available operation types:

This documentation explains the configuration and execution of quality checks within the manufacturing workflow.
Setting Up Quality Control Points
To Create Quality Control Points: Go to Quality App → Quality Control → Control Points → Create New

You can configure Quality Control Points for individual products, a group of products, or at the product category level, depending on the inspection requirements. You should define clear and specific instructions within each control point, as the employee performing the quality check during the operation will see these instructions.
Odoo supports multiple types of quality checks, including Pass/Fail validation, recording measurements, capturing images etc. You can select the appropriate check type based on the nature of the inspection process. You can also configure Quality Control Points for specific work orders at different stages of the manufacturing process. This allows operations such as cutting, assembly, or finishing to trigger inspections, ensuring that you perform quality validation at the appropriate step before proceeding to the next stage.

A single product may have multiple quality control points configured. The system generates and executes the corresponding quality checks sequentially when triggered during an operation, ensuring that all defined inspection steps are completed in the intended order.

Creating A Manufacturing Order
Go to Manufacturing App → Operations → Manufacturing Orders → New
Upon confirming the Manufacturing Order, if you click on Produce All, the system will display a warning message:

Go to Shop Floor: Click on the green check box to complete the quality check:

To view additional details regarding the quality check , click on *i* icon:

The worksheet displays all relevant details of the quality check, allowing the assigned operator to review and perform the inspection accurately.

Click on Green check box to complete the work order
Upon clicking Close Production, the system will display a validation error if any pending quality checks remain incomplete. The Manufacturing Order cannot be finalized until all required quality checks have been successfully completed.

Go back to the manufacturing order, and click on quality checks:

A final quality check can be applied to the completed product to ensure it meets the required quality standards before completion. This check is typically triggered at the end of the manufacturing process, especially when no specific work center is defined in the quality control point.

If you successfully pass all quality checks, click Validate to confirm the inspection. The Quality Checks indicator will turn green, signifying that you have completed all required inspections.

After validation, you may proceed by clicking Produce All to complete the manufacturing operation.
In conclusion, Quality Control in Odoo Manufacturing ensures that inspection procedures are systematically integrated into the production workflow. By defining appropriate control points and completing quality checks at each stage, businesses can maintain product standards, prevent defects, and ensure operational consistency. Proper execution of quality checks prior to production completion strengthens process control and improves overall manufacturing reliability.
